Dressage at Devon Celebrates 40th Anniversary
with New Classes, Amateur Division

August 2015

Breaking Dawn

The 2015 40th Anniversary Dressage at Devon show will take place from September 29 – October 4 at the historic Devon Horse Show Grounds in Devon, PA. To celebrate, DAD has introduced new classes, increased its prize money and is proud to feature Lipizzan stallions in a special exhibition.

New Classes
DAD has partnered with the United States Dressage Federation (USDF) to launch a youth dressage sport horse seminar created to familiarize the younger generation with the dressage sport horse industry.  The seminar will be held over two days, September 28-29 at Dressage at Devon, and will consist of classroom and practical handling sessions, along with the opportunity to observe competition classes and practice judging.  Information regarding this class can be found on the Dressage at Devon website (www.dressageatdevon.org).

DAD will also offer an FEI Amateur Division which will include FEI Prix St. Georges and FEI Intermediate I classes. Sunday afternoon, DAD will offer a National level FEI Test of Choice. This class is not part of the CDI. Horses entered in CDI-Am classes must follow the same procedures applied to open CDIs and are required to undergo a veterinary check and be stabled in restricted-access CDI stalls.

And DAD has added a new mule class in the breed show!

From Hanovarians to Lipizzans -  The Breed Showv

The DAD Breed Division is the largest open breed show in the world, attracting top breeders from coast to coast. The more than 60 classes feature more than 20 specific breed classes – including a new mule class!

One of the most popular classes, unique to Dressage at Devon, is the Born in the USA Breeder’s Award, which recognizes the achievements of sport-horse breeders in the United States.  In addition classes include the United States Dressage Federation Breeder’s Championship (USDFBC) sponsored by the Great American Insurance Group.  Plus exhibitors across the nation compete at qualifying events for the champion and reserve-champion foal, filly, colt/gelding, mare and stallion.

Follow the Foal
Each year, Dressage at Devon selects a foal to follow on its path to the Breed Show at DAD. This year, we are following Toschufro TT (Totalis  x Baguette x Don Schufro), an inquisitive, leggy, dark bay colt, born on January 1, 2015.

Toschufro TT and his half brother, Don Rubinstein (Rubinstein I x Baguette ) born 2/21/2015 spent the first months of their lives at Buttonwood Farm and on May 2, the colts and their surrogate moms, Opal and Gem, were brought to their new farm, Schockemohle Station, in New York.

We look forward to seeing Toschufro and hundreds of other foals at Dressage at Devon.

Performance Division: Not to be Missed September 24 - 28

The Performance Division begins Thursday, October 1 and runs through Sunday, October 4. The Musical Freestyle is Saturday night but be sure not to miss the Grand Prix Qualifier for the Grand Prix Special and the Grand Prix Freestyle on Friday night.
