Photo credit: Phelps, Grace Zalewski/Emma Miller (Continued on page 23) As always, Dressage at Devon’s pinnacle classes, the CDI3* Grand Prix Special and the CDI-W Grand Prix Freestyle, were highlighted in the Dixon Oval on Saturday evening, Oc- tober 1. The CDI3* Grand Prix Special was won by Argentina’s Micaela Mabragana and Diamond Rosso, a 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding owned by Marjaleena Berger, with a score of 66.766%. The pair was given several high marks of 7.5 for their passage, one and two tempis, and transi- tions, even scoring some 8s for their halt and one tempis. In the FEI Grand Prix Free- style that followed, Alice Tarjan, Oldwick, NJ, and Serenade MF, her own 9-year-old Oldenburg mare, wowed both the judges and the crowd, earning a score of 76.515% for their harmonious routine and fitting instrumental music. Michael Bragdell and Qredit Hilltop, a 14-year-old Oldenburg stallion owned by Hilltop Farm, Colora, MD, earned a score of 73.13%, their new personal best, to push them into third place. Megan Lane and Zodiac MW, an 18-year-old KWPN gelding, finished with a score of 75.22% for second place. Friday Evening In the CDI3* Grand Prix to qualify for the Grand Prix Special, and the CDI-W Grand Prix to qualify for the Grand Prix Freestyle, Mabragana and Tarjan put in performances foreshadow- ing their success in the champi- onships to come. Mabragana and Diamond Rosso clinched the victory with a score of 64.435%, frequently scoring 7.5’s in the movements. Canada’s Ashley Rand and Heim- dals Champ, her own 13-year- old Danish Warmblood stallion, finished in second place with 56.935%. Tarjan and Serenade MF, the USEF Grand Prix Dressage National Champions just a month before in the U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions, laid down a consistent and expressive test to score 71.804% and the win. Canada’s Megan Lane and Zodi- ac MW earned a score of 67% for second place. Bragdell finished in third with Qredit Hilltop. Breed &Young Horse Classes James Jackson was named the top Adult Amateur Handler, showing Springborgs Device with a score of 80.1% in his Dressage at Devon debut. Rachel Hosier was second with Raycita WS, her own yearling filly, with a score of 79.6%. In the Youth Handler class, Georgia Brame topped the leaderboard with Laudable VT, a 10-year-old mare, on a score of 82.1%. In second place was Ella Rose Trull with Roosewelt, earning a score of 76.3%. The highlighted individ- ual breed class of the day, the Hanoverian Class saw a compet- itive field of 23 horses. Quinnten Alston with Frida Kahlo QC, a 2-year-old mare, took home the blue ribbon with a score of 85.95%. King Santacruz with Roosewelt, a yearling colt, fin- ished in second place with a score of 79.7%. The top placing entries in each individual breed class were welcomed back to the Dixon Oval for the Parade of Breeds. Iron Spring Farm’s infa- mous Tjalbert 460, a 16-year-old Friesian stallion, was named the Get of Sire winner with a score of 78.35% following the presen- tation of several of his progeny. Vasari, a 6-year-old Hanoverian stallion, finished in second place with Samantha Kidd on a score of 78.15%. Waikiki, a 19-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare, was named the champion of the Produce of Dam class, with a score of 79.8% with Katie Cook. Dynastie Damon’s D’amara, a 9-year-old Hanove- rian mare, finished second with Bruce Griffin III on a score of 79.1%. In the Breeder’s Group class, Iron Spring Farm with Quinnten Alston claimed the top prize with a score of 82%. Hilltop Farm Breeder’s Group took second with King Santacruz, earning a score of 80.95%. In the Young/Mature Pony Championship, Angela Mirar- chi’s Princi, a 12-year-old Sport Pony mare, took first with King Santacruz. Georgia Brame with Kitsune PA, a 4-year-old Arabian mare was the reserve champion. In the Pony Foal/Yearling Championship, GWS Chica- go, a Westphalian colt owned and shown by Amy Brumbach, took the top honors. Phable of Rapunzel, a yearling filly owned and shown by Keri Blizniak, took home the red ribbon. Catherine Malone’s 4-year- old Dutch Warmblood No- blewood Tarpania was named Mare Champion, Mature Horse Champion and Grand Champi- on. Reserve Mature and Grand Champion was Samantha Kidd’s Kashmir R, a 7-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare. The Stallion Championship was won by Hannah Salazar and SF Bohemian Rhapsody, a 4-year-old Westphalian. Elizabeth Schneider’s 12-year-old Olden- burg, Royal English Kis, was awarded Reserve Champion. The USDF Breed Champion- ship Finals rounded out the breed divisions. The Sabine Schut-Kery Masterclass took place at 5:30 p.m. in the Dixon Oval with a packed house of spectators onlooking.
