Meanwhile, Sunday is also Family Day with Dressage Explorers Day running from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. with shores meet & greets (with supervision!), stick horse competitions, scavenger hunts, and equine-themed games that engage kids and adults alike. It’s a great way to introduce young riders and future fans to the joy of dressage. Local Flavor, Global Talent One of the most endearing qualities of DAD is how seamlessly it blends the local and the international. You’ll see Olympians warming up alongside local trainers. Spectators from around the globe will be sitting next to 4-H kids from the next township over. From the barns, to the box seats, horse owners, riders and breeders from Chester County and its environs mingle with those from across the country and Europe. For First-Timers: Tips from the Tack Room • Parking: There’s on-site paid parking, but it fills up fast. If you’re coming for Saturday night, arrive early. • Footwear: Comfy walking shoes are a must • Weather: Late September can be unpredictable. Bring layers and a raincoat, just in case. • Food: Local food vendors serve everything from crab cakes to funnel cakes. You won’t regret it. Why It Matters Fifty years of excellence doesn’t happen by accident. It takes vision, volunteers and a community that cares deeply about horses, sport and tradition. For many of us, Dressage at Devon is a pilgrim- age. It’s where we saw our first passage, our first piaffe, our first horse show. This year, it’s also a moment to honor what’s been built and look ahead to what’s next. If you love horses, you belong at the 50th Anniversary of Kingsview Partners Dressage at Devon. And if you love this region, you’ll be proud to see how Chester County continues to be a leader in equestrian sport. So load up the kids (or the barn crew), and make your way to the Dixon Oval this September. There’s no place like it. Adriane Alvord rode her own Hanoverian gelding, Selfmade, to a personal best score of 70.040% in the CDI-W FEI Grand Prix Freestyle. Photo by Priceless Equine Productions.
