Dressage at Devon’s Food vendors have been voted the “best food on the show circuit” by competitors. Relax in The Pub with its closed-circuit coverage of the competition or enjoy a full meal or a light snack ringside. Dressage Explorer’s Day On Sunday, kids can join the Dressage Explorers and make their own stick horse to ride down the Dixon Oval’s centerline! Join the selfie-scavenger hunt with prizes. This year, Dressage Explorers will host a “Barn Day,” with a costume theme of “Horses at the Beach!” Barns must pre-register and submit a video to enter—win one of several prizes, including a clinic with George Williams! Stay tuned to Dressage at Devon’s social media-- all ages welcome. Masterclass with Sabine Schut-Kery, presented by ShowPlus powered by CaptiveOne Dressage at Devon’s first-annual Masterclass will be held on Thursday, September 29th. Olym- pic silver medalist Sabine Schut-Kery will instruct select riders and horses of various levels, providing spectators valuable insight and training advice. Afterwards, enjoy "Pie & Prosecco," a fundraiser reception, with Schut-Kery and the exhibition riders 8–9:30 p.m. in the New Devon Club. USDF CE “Know the Movements” As part of Dressage at Devon’s educational commitment a USDF Continuing Education in Dressage judging, “Know the Movements” will be held Thursday, September 29th from 10 am to 1 pm in the Old Devon Club (below the main Grandstand). Jeanne McDonald (S Judge) will cover all aspects of the test movements from training through Fourth level including directives, gymnastic effect, and what can go wrong. This program is approved for L Graduate Continuing Education. Passing an online quiz is required. Participants must register/pay in advance and access to the show grounds for the day is included. Roaring 20’s Party Party like Gatsby at the Roaring 20s Party presented by Kingsview Partners on Friday night, September 30th, at the New Devon Club. Door prizes, great music, and 2 drink tickets are included with admission! The Blackbird Society Orchestra will set the mood. 1920s attire is highly encouraged. Ladies Hat Day On Friday, the ladies of Devon are invited to wear their best traditional “show day” hat and attire to the grounds for a display of time-honored tradition. Awards are given at 5:30 pm to the best hats and outfits! Ladies of all ages welcome. Guy McLean Exhibitions Friday through Sunday, Australian Horseman Guy McLean will present his top-tier horseman- ship exhibition in the Dixon Oval! On Sunday afternoon, enjoy a one-hour clinic, “Method Behind the Magic,” on his training methods. McLean has entertained, inspired, and educated millions of audience members and has performed at the 2010 World Equestrian Games, at the 2011 Breyerfest event, The Royal Winter Fair, the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas, and Dressage at Devon in past years. DVCTA Quadrille Enjoy the Roaring 20’s Party, presented by Kingsview Partners, as the Delaware Valley Com- bined Training Association’s Quad Squad’s eight-horse Third Level Team dances to familiar upbeat tunes from the Jazz Era. Quadrille riding is all about synchrony, spacing and alignment. Riders, active members of the DVCTA, volunteer their time to practice and perform with the teams. Quadrille Playdates held January to March introduce newcomers to quadrille and raise funds. Anyone is welcome! To register, visit dvcta.org. Shoppin’ in the USA Shop for your next horse on the Dressage at Devon showgrounds! “Shoppin’ in the USA” supports US breeders, introducing breeders and their offspring to a knowledgeable prospective customer base. Horses can be seen while warming up and competing, and the classes in which a sale horse is en- tered will be listed in the catalog. Sellers can choose to list their barn location and pay a nominal fee, which includes a full-page listing in the e-catalog, the in-hand presentation in the Dixon Oval, and the Final Presentation on Wednesday. Only horses competing at Dressage at Devon 2022 are eligible. Memorial Tribute to Hope C. Hand Saturday, Dressage at Devon will designate a donation to the United States Para Equestrian Association’s “Hope Hand Memorial Scholarship Fund” which will provide direct athlete grants for competition and education. Hand, a decorated Paralympic equestrian athlete, was the first alternate to the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Team and competed at the British Invitational in 1997, earning gold, silver, and bronze. She won bronze at the 1999 World Dressage Championships and finished fifth overall at the 2000 Paralympics in Australia. She won numerous awards for her leadership roles in promoting sport for athletes with disabilities.
