Page 4 May 2022 EAST COAST EQUESTRIAN First Night at Devon - Wednesday, May 25 First Night at Devon brings together Devon Horse Show and Country Fair supporters and art enthu- siasts for a fun and festive celebration of art, horsemanship, and philanthropy. Partygoers mingle in the company of exhibiting artists and are treated to a special preview of the art showcased in the Art Gallery. All proceeds benefit the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair Foundation. The Art Gallery at Devon began in 1999 and is a juried art show that exhibits approximately 500 pieces of art by regional and national artists during the eleven-day show. Works in media range from oils to wa- tercolor and acrylics to sculpture, focusing on a variety of subjects including pastoral, still, equestrian, and animal life. The Art Gallery has raised over $200,000 in sales for the benefit of Bryn Mawr Hospital. Devon Dog Show - Thursday, May 26 On Thursday, May 26, the canines take to the Dixon Oval to compete in the Devon Dog Show. Present- ed by What A Good Dog, the show will include an exciting exhibition and four classes: Walk-Trot with Me, Jumpers, Tricks and the Lead Line Costume Parade. Time: 7:00 p.m. Location: Dixon Oval Free General Admission and Parking after 5 p.m. Family Days - Thursday, May 26 and Tuesday, May 31 Specials on Food, Souvenirs and the Midway. Tuesday Only Includes free afternoon guided back-barn tours from 3-6 p.m. Itty Bitty Tea Party - Sunday, May 29 Join us for a classic children’s Tea Party in the Devon Club on the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair Grounds! Children will experience an afternoon of fun as they sip on refreshments, enjoy tea party treats and participate in a special craft. Tickets limited to 30 guests for each seating. Children Only: Ages 4 & over Attire: Tea Party Special Location: Devon Club Tickets: $30 per person Time: 2 seatings available. – Noon to 1 p.m. and 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. $50,000 Arena Eventing - Sunday, May 29 Devon Arena Eventing will take place over an enclosed show jumping course spanning both the Dixon Oval and the Wheeler Ring. This thrilling event requires both precision and stamina as horse and rider teams traverse a 30-jump course designed by Olympic gold medalist, former US Olympic Eventing team coach, and renowned international course designer, Captain Mark Phillips. Time: 7 p.m. Location: Dixon Oval Tribute to Heroes - Monday, May 30 Each Memorial Day, Devon continues its tradition of honoring our community heroes with a special recognition ceremony in the Dixon Oval, featuring local military and emergency responders. It is with great reverence that we look forward to honoring all our first responders and their dedication to help the people of our community. As a special way of honoring their service, free general admission will be provided to all active and retired military personnel, police, fire, and EMT personnel and their families. Tentative time: 6:30 p.m. Location: Dixon Oval Ladies Day - Wednesday, June 1 Ladies Day is a tradition at Devon that dates back to the early 1900’s. This year’s Ladies Hat Day theme is Feathers and Frocks! Guests are welcomed with a complimentary champagne toast, hors d’oeu- vres, live music and a beautiful gift bag. The competition begins in the Devon Pavilion where, judged by a panel of celebrity judges, ladies will have a chance to promenade in their gorgeous creations and compete for five awards: Best in Show; Best Head to Toe; Best Group; Most Fascinating and Plume of the Day. A ticketed luncheon, overlooking sidesaddle competition in the Dixon Oval, follows from noon-2 pm. Time: 9:30 a.m – 2 p.m. Children’s Day - Sunday, June 5 Children’s Day festivities include various crafts, including decorating hats with feathers, glitter, but- tons, beads and other adornments. They will then parade their unique creations through the Country Fair grounds. Come meet fan favorite Dale the Therapy Mini-Horse. Cost: $12 entrance fee which includes all activities, hat and hat decorations. Activities: Crafts 10 a.m. - Noon Hat Parade 12:15 p.m. - 12:45 p.m. Location: Devon Grove and Pavilion Plant Sale - Sunday, June 5 The plant sale will be held immediately following the last class on Sunday, June 5. An amazing as- sortment of perennial shrubs and plants and colorful annuals will be sold next to the ring at the main gate. Bring your wheelbarrow and come early for the best selection. New this year, pre-order your flowers for pick up on June 5.
