Together, she and her mare Sundance, have performed at a number of events and shows in- cluding the International Liberty Horse Association. Susan, who was introduced to liberty work at Horse World Expo as a child, trains with a focus on connec- tion and “quiet horsemanship” and loves experimenting with these mindsets. She focuses on ways to improve the quality of life for horses. Her rescue, Empowered Equines, fo- cuses on providing sanctuary to horses who have extreme physi- cal, behavioral or emotional trou- bles. Jessica’s goal is to spread education about forward-think- ing, force-free, science-based animal care and training to create more great homes for horses in need. Amanda Grev, PhD Selecting Good Quality Hay (Fri., 4 pm, Seminar Hall B) Dr. Amanda Grey joined the University of Maryland Exten- sion team in 2019 as the Pasture and Forage Extension Special- ist where she provides pasture and forage-related education, programming, and resources. Amanda received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Animal Science at the University of Minnesota, where her research focused on the inter- action between equine nutrition, forages, and pasture management. Adam Guiste Farrier Basics (Thurs., 5 pm, Seminar Hall B) A Penn State University Equine Extension Associate, Adam is a graduate of the Ken- tucky Horse Shoeing School and holds multiple breed and disci- pline judges’ cards.
