Trail Champions Challenge, held Saturday morning, is a timed and judged event in which competitors of all ages negotiate a difficult set of obstacles that test athleticism, horsemanship and the communication and bond between horse and rider. This exciting and entertaining com- petition features horse and rider combinations from throughout the region. They will be compet- ing for cash prizes and will be judged on the quality of partner- ship at each obstacle. Meet some very special horses! Five unbroke rescue horses embarked on a journey in December. Area rescues part- nered with area trainers to help these horses become Rescued to Stardom! Their journey began as untrained and unwanted horses. They beat the odds and found their way into the hands of caring rescue groups and now, after 90 days of training, these unlikely horses compete for cash and priz- es by performing two freestyle routines. The competition will be held on Friday and Saturday. In the end, all the competitors win as these horses will now be prepared to start a new life as adoptable and treasured riding partners. Equi-Tainment! A Musical Equine Variety Show presents drill teams, musical freestyles, mounted archery, tricks and other exciting and entertaining displays of horsemanship. Other featured exhibitions are the Parade of Breeds and Stallion Avenue Demonstration, each held daily. Many of the accomplished horse trainers who attend the Expo present seminars on train- ing by day, and dazzle audiences by night with their amazing performances in Theatre Equus (Friday and Saturday evening only).
