EAST COAST EQUESTRIAN March 2022 Page 63 Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) is seeking equine facilities (lesson program barns, camps, universities/col- leges, dude ranches, trail ride operations, etc.) to host a CHA Certification to certify their staff, accredit your facility and make some money doing so. CHA Certifications are intensive multi-day events Certified Horsemanship Association Seeks Host Sites for Certifications in which attendees learn and demonstrate their skills so they can be certified at one of CHA’s various certification types and levels. Certifications are currently available for the English/West- ern Instructor, Equine Facility Manager, Vaulting, Driving, Trail, Seasonal Equestrian Staff, Uni- versity/College and Instructors of Riders with Disabilities. CHA Certifications are cur- rently available in the following locations: Alabama, Alberta, Colorado, Indiana, Maine, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wash- ington. CHA conducts certifica- tions around the US and Canada each year. Most will be posted on the CHA website by the end of March for 2022. Each host site will specify which meals are included and if a lodging option is available with the final price. A person’s willingness to dedicate their time and mon- ey to the CHA certification process indicates that they are a serious professional. CHA certified equine professionals must demonstrate a high level of professional competence and adhere to continuing education requirements set forth by CHA to maintain their certification. In addition, many insurance companies recog- nize certification and will give discounts. The organization is taking applications to host in 2022 and beyond. CHA must approve host sites. Penn Vet New Bolton Cen- ter will again offer free virtual First Tuesday Lectures on a variety of veterinary topics, suitable for horse owners and enthusiasts alike. Lectures take place virtually from 6:30-7:30 pm on the first Tuesday of the month. The First Tuesday Lectures are a tradition of community outreach at New Bolton Center. During the series, faculty and clinicians at New Bolton Center share current information on topics of interest and relevance to horse owners and caregivers throughout the region. Many of the lectures highlight the ad- vanced techniques performed by Penn Vet’s team of leading Virtual First Tuesday Lectures Return clinicians and the state-of-the-art equipment and facilities avail- able to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. Lecture topics are: March 8, 2022: Trailblazing Discoveries through Imaging and Stem Cell Research with Dr. Kyla Ortved & Dr. Sarah Ciamillo April 5, 2022: Laminitis: A Path to Prevention Dr. Andrew van Eps May 3, 2022: Tending to Tendons: Diagnosis and Treat- ment of Injuries Dr. Kara Brown Participants must register on- line and will be sent a zoom link via email.
