He is researching how different feeding management strategies impact metabolic health, skeletal development and growth, and gastrointestinal integrity in order to identify nutritional strategies to reduce the risk of health problems that are a serious concern to the equine industry including gastric ulcers, laminitis, and colic. Renee Vandenberg What Can CBD Do for the Horse (Fri., 6 pm, Seminar Hall A) Renee has spent the last 3 years working in the hemp indus- try. Renee has used CBD for her own 18 lesson horses and many rescues. Renee’s family operates a 200-acre USDA Certified Or- ganic farm, and Renee is a Master Gardener Volunteer. They began growing hemp in 2019 under the Wisconsin DATCP pilot research program. She has developed a product line that addresses the many uses for CBD and Hemp in horses with multiple strengths available. Meet Renee Vandenberg at the Hemp for Horses booth 234. Seminar Hall A) Senior Horses; Working Into Retirement (Sun., noon, Seminar Hall A) A certified master instructor, Tracy helps horse people with real everyday issues through a back to basics approach based on the multi-faceted relationship between the mind and body of both horse and rider. Tracy uses a combination of natural horse- manship, classical dressage, trick training, bridle-less riding, liberty work and more to create willing partnerships with her horses. Her lessons build confidence and keep things “interesting” to achieve safer riding and better perfor- mance. Bud & Gwen Wills Hitting the Trail & Riding Smart (Fri., 2 pm, Seminar Hall A) Become a Trail Rider; Trail Riding Basics & Safety (Sat., 6 pm, Seminar Hall A) The Wills trail ride mules and use their mules for education and to pack materials for trail maintenance. Bud is PA Equine Council State Trail Chair and Gwen is Trail Stewardship Pro- gram Director. Both are Leave No Trace masters and presenters. They developed the PEC’s Trail Stewardship Program that is helping to keep public lands open to horses. They train volunteers and agency personnel and present trail user programs. John Zanella Horses Helping Heroes (Fri., I pm, Seminar Hall B) John, the founder and direc- tor of Victory Therapeutic Horse- manship, is a PATH International instructor, retired Army Sergeant First Class with multiple combat tours and a long history of horse experience. Non-profit Victory Therapeutic Horsemanship is one of the few therapeutic riding pro- grams serving veterans exclusive- ly and at no cost. Studies have shown that therapeutic riding is effective for veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Trau- matic Brain Injuries, and coping with physical injuries.
