Page 8 June 2021 EAST COAST EQUESTRIAN Lancaster County, PA is synonymous with picturesque farmlands, but once a year the volunteer fire company of Bird-in-Hand, PA transforms those sleepy fields to a bustling marketplace during their annual fundraiser, the Lancaster County Carriage & Antique Auction. The live auction event is held under several open-air tents hous- ing over 400 volunteers, 6 auction blocks, over 450 sellers, and an average of 4,000 eventgoers from 27 states and 3 countries. Proceeds benefit the Hand-in-Hand Fire Company, an all-volunteer station serving part of Lancaster County. Now in its 21st year, the auction is known for its selection of horse-drawn carriages, equine ac- cessories, antiques, furniture, quality crafts, flowers and shrubbery, and miniature horses and ponies. Among the exceptional selec- tion of items on sale, eventgoers will also find an abundant sense of Lancaster County Carriage Auction to Be Held June 24-25 community, good food, and many fine folks who are quick with a helping hand and a smile. “The auction is a place where people are drawn together for a common cause,” said Jake King, Lancaster County Carriage &An- tiqueAuction organizer. “We always want to create a sense of community and an environment where everyone is welcome, and everyone is invited to join in on the fun.
