Box 662 Skippack, PA 19472 www.nextpasture.com Flax Farm has been provid- ing dust free, odour neutralizing eco-friendly animal bedding since 2016. Since this Canadian made product is relatively new on the market, here are some interesting facts about it. WHERE DOES FLAX COME FROM? Manitoba, Saskatchewan and North Dakota. Flax needs certain soil and climate conditions to grow and these locations are best suited for its production. Flax is grown primarily for seed and oil production. The stalks of the plant are processed for fine paper making. In the past, flax paper (linen), was used for important documents and printing money. Today the stalks have found other uses. 1) Animal Bedding—This is used especially for horses. It is perfect for horses with respirato- ry issues and allergies caused by wood products. 2) Pellets—These are made from the remaining small parti- cles and sold to the pet industry. New to the US Horse Market– Flax Farm Animal Bedding 3) Short Fibre—This is baled and sold to dairies for animal bedding. Compared to wood bedding, flax is more than three times absorbent and, unlike wood, dust free. It is a renewable resource that adds nitrogen when spread on soil. And best of all, it cuts stall cleaning time in half. WHERE FLAX FARM IS LOCATED Flax Farm is based out of Winkler, Manitoba. A factory expansion during the summer has allowed them to double their capac- ity and have daily shipments, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Flax Farm is looking for qualified distributors to service smaller farms and the expanding poultry market as they expand their sales and distri- bution to the US horse market. Considered an essential service, Flax Farm can always continue to manufacture and export. Their three years’worth of inventory of raw material guarantees a supply that is not dependent on crop conditions. To find a dealer near you call (416) 579-7876 or visit flaxfam.ca .
