Greystone Manor
Greystone Manor Therapeutic Riding Center Will Celebrate Grand Opening

Greystone Manor Therapeutic Riding Center is a non-profit organization that has been providing quality equine programs for children and adults with disabilities since 1981 under the name of Lancaster County Therapeutic Riding. Effective January 1, 2010, the organization assumed management and sole occupancy of the former Greystone Manor Stables, transitioning the facility to a fully dedicated therapeutic riding center -- the first in Lancaster County.

As a fully dedicated therapeutic riding center, Greystone Manor can expand, offer new and additional services, host more special events, make facility improvements and, most importantly, continue to serve all the riders, both present and future, who are so special to everyone associated with the program. The program’s mission is to enhance the lives of individuals with special needs through equine assisted activities. Its vision is to grow and be acknowledged as a diverse therapeutic riding program of distinction that is recognized in the community and beyond.
The facility has 20 stalls, indoor arena, outdoor riding ring and turnout.

Greystone Manor’s staff consists of a Head Instructor, Volunteer Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, Occupational Therapy Advisor and a total of 11 part-time instructors with 65 years of combined service. Their qualifications include PQI, CRI and NRI. Greystone’s Board of Directors has eight members from various professional backgrounds.

The center offers private, semi-private and group lessons to individuals who meet the program’s criteria for inclusion. There is also a summer Horsemanship Youth Camp, weekend clinics, an annual horse show and other special events. Starting in the spring, Greystone Manor will offer a new daytime school program for students with special needs.

For the Horse Farms Open House: A ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 am on Saturday will mark the facility’s grand opening as Greystone Manor Therapeutic Riding Center. Riders and staff will demonstrate lesson activities at 12 pm and 2 pm on Saturday and 1 pm on Sunday. Guided tours of the facility will be offered throughout the weekend. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to discuss volunteer opportunities. As part of the Legacy Fence Project, there will be an opportunity for guests to purchase a section of fence for the new outdoor riding ring. Each section will bear an engraved plaque with the inscription of the donor’s choice. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
